On Friday, December 6, The Arc of Monmouth will return to Atlantic Highlands’ Shore Casino for its 47th annual Winter Glow Ball, which supports healthcare, employment, education and other services for over 1,300 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Funds from this event will also help to complete uninsured structural repairs to The Arc’s Work Opportunity Center, flooded during Superstorm Sandy.
Beginning at 6:30 pm, the formal affair features lavish hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, a sit down dinner, silent and live auctions, and dancing to live music by Total Soul. Following severe storm damage, the Shore Casino has been remodeled and provides top notch food and service, as well as breathtaking views of New York Harbor and Sandy Hook Bay.
This year’s honorees are Maureen and John Lloyd, who have both provided invaluable support to many local charities through their involvement with Meridian Health and the Monmouth Park Charity Fund. Over the years, Mr. Lloyd has lent his auctioneer talents to the Winter Glow Ball, and Mrs. Lloyd served as a school nurse at The Arc of Monmouth, where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2006.
A new award has been created in honor of Countess Anatole Buxhoeveden, who founded the Winter Glow Ball in 1966. The inaugural Countess’ Award is being presented to The Hilton Family (Fr. Hank, James, Sarah and cousin Alex Rogers), who have provided fundraising and volunteer service to The Arc of Monmouth for over 40 years.
“One year ago, the 46th Winter Glow Ball was disrupted by Superstorm Sandy, which flooded both the Shore Casino and The Arc’s Work Opportunity Center (WOC)” noted event chair Anita Roselle. “We celebrate the fact that Shore Casino has recovered from their damage, and WOC is now partially reopened thanks to the contributions of many generous individuals, and hope that supporters will help us to complete the over $100,000 in further repairs needed to protect WOC from future damage”.
Lead sponsors include The Anabel Foundation, Meridian Health, Eileen Scott, Shore Point Distributors, Mr. & Mrs. Steve Pesce, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph C. Roselle, Brookdale Community College and PNC Bank.
Advance registration is required and can be done online at www.arcofmonmouth.org/winterglow, or by calling (732) 493-1919 ext. 120. Raffle tickets are also available online, for those who cannot attend the event in person.
